Let me guess when she was Black she had little to no speaking parts but as soon as she needed to talk puberty happened.

they had to cast a white actress because we can’t have interracial relationships in movies

OR, alternatively, the part was recast multiple times over the course of ten years, and when the part graduated from extra to significant role, they held a HUGE (& non-race specific) casting call even after they’d already auditioned Jessie Cave for the role, because they just weren’t sure they wanted her.
